How to make your garage from drab to fab in no time

Garages built by CPR Outdoor CentreWhether you admit it or not, your garage is often the most neglected area in your home.

Most of us don’t care too much about the about the space where we store our car.

However, come summer you may realize that your garage deserves some of your attention.

Your garage takes centre stage

During summer, you will be out most of the time, holidays are here, camping, beaching, fishing, playing and having fun. All these activities mean you’ll be using your garage regularly, looking for the equipment you need.

Wouldn’t it be great to have a good looking, well organised garage, which allows you not only to store your vehicle with ease but find the things you need without difficulties? Plus, summer means backyard bbqs, summer party and get together with friends and family. Your garage is a perfect place to give you extra space. Start sorting your garage out now and you will be ready for summer.

Make your garage awesome!

With this in mind, here’s how to make your garage from drab to fab in no time.

  • Be ruthless
  • Create stations
  • Stay smart about storage
  • Give your goods a second life

Be ruthless

Clean as much clutter as possible. Evaluate the things inside your garage depending on how you use an item, how often it is used and during which season. Those that you don’t use anymore, give it to a friend, charity or simply get rid of it.

Create stations

Make different areas in your garage, put all the related items together into one space. For example, gardening tools, keep them in one place, beach gear in another and sports item in another, etc. Don’t forget to use the walls too, having hooks to hang your rake and spade on will keep them neat and tidy and within easy access ready for use. Wall racks are great for bikes and larger items like surfboards. See our article on garage storage for more ideas.

Stay smart about storage

If you are packing up your winter clothes, store them in your ceiling inside your home instead of your garage if space is tight. Put anything you won’t be using until next season in the back corner of your garage so you won’t be tripping over it all summer long. Think about getting shelves or racking so you can make the most of the wall space right to the roof, safely.

Give your goods a second life

Instead of throwing out your items, or keeping things you just don’t use anymore, but are too good just to bin; donate them. Give these items a second life. Hitting two birds with one stone, you get your garage cleaned up and be able to help other people too. Great recycling! When it comes to your garage, less is more!

Enjoy! This coming summer, make the most of your garage space.
